ABOUT

Dakshayani Chippada received her BFA in Printmaking (2019) from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam and her MFA in Printmaking (2021) MS University of Baroda, Gujarat. The inspiration behind her works come from the surroundings she lives in. Her focus is on fragments of objects used by human beings as opposed to depicting human forms. Taking off from her Printmaking palette and now having chosen drawing as her primary medium, she gravitates towards seemingly simple compositions, often rendered in black and white or a limited range of hues. Truth to be told, she shows expertise in both these mediums. Over and above this, the complexity of her subjects is richly embedded with meaning, heft and delicately hidden nuances. In an attempt to use multi-media and extend the possibility of using different materials in her practice she deliberately uses copper wire running stitches and weaves to highlight the outline of the object and the base on which her visual story stands so strongly. This is all more personal for her as this is a skill, she learned from her grandfather who is a goldsmith. Her works have been a part of several exhibitions such as: Bikaner house; Delhi, Modern art gallery; Delhi, Kochi binneale; Kerala, Shrishti art gallery; Hyderabad, Champa tree; Delhi, Karnataka chitrakala parishath; Banglore, Artscapes; Chandigarh, Amusem- Gallery of modern art, Kerala. She also participated in next step residency program at 1shantiroad, Banglore and also part of workshops such as 1st national printmaking workshop, udaipur. Abhiruo mandali- National art symposium, VNSGU, Gujarat. AART IN EDUCATION - Visual art workshop, JNV, Gujarat.
