Chander Prakash
Artist's Biography
Chander Parkash (b. 29 Nov 1974, Udhampur, J&K) is a distinguished Indian sculptor based in Baroda. He earned his B.F.A. in Sculpture from Jammu University in 1999 and a Postgraduate Diploma from M.S. University, Baroda in 2002. Renowned for his mastery in wood and stone, Chander has received numerous accolades, including the Excellent Sculpture Award (China, 2015), International Awards in Switzerland (2007) and Israel (2006), and multiple honors from the J&K State Academy. His work has been exhibited widely across India and internationally, including at the Kochi Biennale (2019), China International Sculpture Exhibition (2014–2015), and solo shows in Baroda, Ahmedabad, Jammu, and Canada. A recipient of prestigious fellowships and residencies, he has participated in over 70 national and international sculpture symposiums. Chander Parkash continues to explore material and form through a deeply rooted yet globally resonant sculptural practice. Curently residing and practicing in Vadodara.
