Dipen Ujeniya
Artist's Biography
Dipen D. Ujeniya (b. 1993, Keshod, Gujarat) is an Indian contemporary artist whose practice primarily engages with painting, often weaving together personal reflections with broader cultural and social narratives. He pursued his Diploma in Painting from Sheth C.N. College of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad (2016) and later completed a Post Diploma in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda (2018). Ujeniya has received several recognitions, including the Vadodara City Award for Painting from Prafulla Dhanukar Art Foundation (2019), the National Arts and Education Scholarship from the National Education and Art Foundation, Los Angeles (2018), and multiple awards from Gujarat-based art institutions since his early years of practice. His work has been showcased in prominent group exhibitions such as The Baroda March (The Stainless Gallery, New Delhi, 2019), Kalaah Sangrah (Amdavad Ni Gufa, 2019), Reflective Reveries (Archer Art Gallery, 2020), and the Kala Ghoda Art Festival, Mumbai (2020). He has also participated in residencies, workshops, and camps, including programs at Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad, and Gandharvapur Artists’ Village, Saputara. Through his evolving practice, Ujeniya continues to explore contemporary visual expressions while remaining rooted in traditional and cultural sensibilities.
