Artist's Biography

Subhash Deka, an art practitioner and sculptor, He was born in 1997 in sarthebari, Assam. His artistic journey began amidst the rich cultural tapestry of his upbringing, which deeply influences his work to this day. Having completed his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh in 2023, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Kokrajhar Music and Fine Art College (Assam) in 2021, his artistic prowess is rooted in both formal education and a profound connection to his heritage. He can connect himself very closely with the natural moments and essences he sees around him. Nature serves as both inspiration and medium for him, as he intricately weaves elements from the natural world into his sculptures. His keen observation of the subtle nuances of nature, from the graceful dance of banana leaves in the wind to the moment when the rhythm of rain changes due to wind, informs his artistic vision. Through his work, he seeks to capture the essence of these intimate moments, employing techniques and materials that evoke a sense of nostalgia and resonance with his childhood in Sarthebari.
